This is an exquisite 13 tall bronze jhari handcrafted by newar artisans from patan city nepal displaying a beautiful and simple basic design with nice dark patina. Newars, the inhabitants of kathmandu valley, are one of the oldest native groups. This pot would have been used during life transition celebrations, such as the birth of a child or a wedding ceremony & also during death ritual. This jhari has a medium belly, narrow neck, and a special designed spout. It is 1.4 kg an early 19th-century piece.Patina and stains in and out are normal for its age. Minor ding in the front belly.
