This antique tibetan yak butter tea bowl is hand carved from burl wood. A very nice example of an antique tibetan wooden teacup.
This piece displays a lovely usage patina and would have been a cherished item in daily use. It is lined with hand-hammered silver. The base with repousse' work is framed with silver. The oxidation of silver is a sign that it is really silver. This bowl is a beautiful example of fine workmanship tibetan used to make, the whole silver surface is uneven and shows wear from old usage.Genuine old silver burl wood bowl like this are hard to find. They are on display in the museum. Origin: tibet, early 19th c.
