Condition: handmade by me with love in excellent condition. Some of the charms are milagros, others are charms and some are sterling silver, like the bench on top.

Some of the charms are coming slightly loose and may move around now, so cool this has many hidden meanings and nostalgic stories in it here are some of them listed below. Other details: for the month of august 2018, you can see this piece at holy grounds coffee and tea, our neighborhood coffee shop on their art gallery wall. The theme is the sun and this milagro garden cross has all the reminders to help any black thumb turn to a green one, as it did mine enjoy a cup of joe and pastry, like a churro donut, gf or not, in the lovely mexican folk art inspired patio.

Size: approx: 12" tall x 7" inches wide. Inspired by my love for folk art, especially mexican folk art and religious folk art, this is one of several mixed art media cross i made in the 80s to 90s and it has been in various spots in my home. I made this for myself because although i come from generations of farmers, i had a brown thumb, so i made this as an affirmation to embrace my brown thumb to create a green one it worked too it is time to pass it on to someone who appreciates handmade american folk art with a modern twist, like the tiny and large laughables in life and anything kitsch. Sometimes i must not only face, but embrace my darkness to see any light and even though i might not think it's there, it's there.

That is why the cross is painted black and has a small gold spot painted under it. The bench and the snail adorn the top and bottom as a reminder to slow down, rest and see the beauty, take my time and that my garden needs time too also, although snails are pesky for any garden, they are here for a reason too. A way to reuse and recycle my collection of can tabs in a practical manner therefore the soda tab to hang it. Corn is a symbol of abundance and fertility.

Also a good way to plant your beans and corn together, so i don't need bean sticks or trellis'. Stories of growing up on a farm.

I can go on and on, if you would like me to continue request it. Process: my brother and i made the cross from old pine and oak sticks my grandfather had saved in his garage. While it was drying i chose the charms for it and designed the lay out.

Most of the charms are nailed on, the white glass flower bead and blue rhinestone button are glued on with silicon glue. Lastly the soda can tab was added on the back with glue gun glue. Materials: the bench, sun, beaver and dandelion are sterling silver charms. The wheat, corn and flower with stem and leaves are vintage milagros.

The rest are various metal and enamel charms from my various collections ranging from childhood to 90s. Perfect for the person who's new year's resolution is to become a better gardener garden lover's cross for anyone who loves to garden, as a reminder of gratitude for all things or nature's abundance or someone who dreams of a sustainable garden, like me. This wall decor will bliss, inspire and transform any wall for any garden dream wish you may have.

I started to collect milagros that eventually lead to collecting mexcian folk art that lead to religious mexican folk art and then to religious folk art to religious charms and medals to sterling charms of all kinds as a hoarder, i can see how my hoarding ways snowball into more and more collections what an epiphany from writing this.
