The border of the veil is edged with very fine lyon manufacture silk velvet (the finest silk of the period which has never been replicated since the factories shut down in the late 19th century). The leaves especially are a marvel of hundreds of very fine metallic threads. The triangle is in gilt metallic thread stumpwork, as is the shape of the eye. The pupil is set with an exquisite faceted clear/blue stone enclosed by a scalloped brass frame.
The ten rays are formed of hand sewn gilt sequins. The diamond shaped background is of fine crimson lyon manufacture silk.
The eyebrow is worked in fine bouillon coiling. The backing is of red linen (replaced somewhere in the textile's history).
